About

Aeronautica Imperialis: Flight Command is a turn-based tactical air-combat game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, adapting Games Workshop's Aeronautica Imperialis tabletop wargame. Both sides issue orders simultaneously under a WEGO system, then watch small squadron engagements of roughly three to eight aircraft play out, with movement handled via a drag-and-drop interface. It offers standalone scenarios plus the Rynn's World Air Superiority campaign, in which players level up Imperial Navy pilots across randomly generated missions. Critical reception was mixed, with reviewers recommending it mainly to dedicated Warhammer 40,000 fans.

⚙ Setup notes

Game: Delisted Steam game (appid 610160), removed from sale 2023-02-08 by Binary Planets. Unity title, simultaneous turn-based tactical air combat (Warhammer 40k).

Proton: ProtonDB lists platinum, but on a *low* report count, so treat it as "should run well" rather than a heavily-confirmed result. No DRM, GFWL, or winetricks reported as needed. GE-Proton or proton_experimental are both reasonable — pick one and let it build the prefix.

DRM: No DirectX/SecuROM hacks required.

Install: deckport only configures the prefix; it never bundles or links the game files.

The one thing to know

Supply your own copy: Delisted (removed from Steam 2023-02-08), so only owners with a prior purchase / grey-market key can run it. deckport links nothing.

Proton: ProtonDB tier is platinum but on a low report count, and Valve rates it Steam Deck Playable (not Verified) — encouraging, but not heavily confirmed, so this recipe still needs a hands-on Deck pass.

Controller: native gamepad support is limited; it's a menu-and-orders strategy game with a planning phase rather than real-time flight, so a Steam Input mouse/keyboard layout (trackpad as mouse) plays it comfortably — set that as the controller layout.

Servers: Single-player / hot-seat focused; no live servers to worry about.

Binary: Binary name (FlightCommand.exe) is a best-guess — verify against your install root.

Get the artwork

deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.

Run it on your Deck

Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version) and registers the shortcut with artwork.
