No git, no account setup, no waiting on a maintainer. Fill this in and it builds a valid recipe and hands off to GitHub's "propose new file" flow — you commit it under your GitHub account, which opens a pull request. CI checks it automatically (including the no-game-files rule), then a maintainer merges it.

the one hard rule

Describe how to configure the game only. Never link to where to download a game, or anything about defeating copy protection — those are rejected automatically. Linking a creator's own free/official page (itch.io, GameJolt, GOG, Steam, the dev's site) is fine.
