About
Cherry Tree High Comedy Club is a Japanese social-simulation adventure game in which 17-year-old Mairu Hibisu sets out to recruit fellow students into her fledgling school comedy club before a deadline. Players manage a daily schedule, build up conversation topics, and befriend a roster of classmates, blending visual-novel storytelling with light stat-building. Originally a doujin title by the developer 773, it was published in Japan by Capcom in 2010 and translated into English by Nyu Media in 2012. It was removed from sale in July 2022 after Nyu Media ceased operations, though existing owners retain access to their copies.

⚙ Setup notes
Delisted: Delisted Steam game (appid 214610) — Western/English release pulled from Steam July 2022 when publisher Nyu Media shut down; owners keep library access.
DRM: Lightweight singleplayer comedy/dating-sim visual novel with no DRM and no online component, so nothing server-side to break.
Proton: Runs cleanly under Proton (GE-Proton or stock proton_experimental both fine); no GFWL/SecuROM, no winetricks needed.
Engine: Despite looking like a hand-drawn visual novel, the game is a total conversion built on RPG Maker XP (RGSS), so it ships the standard Game.exe launcher alongside .rgssad/.rgss* archives.
Install: Launch executable is the RPG Maker XP default Game.exe — confirm the exact filename from your install folder.
Display: Runs at a fixed window/resolution; the engine does not do true widescreen, so expect pillarboxing or letterboxing on the Deck's 16:10 screen (cosmetic only).
deckport only configures the prefix; it never bundles or links the game files.
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy. Not yet hands-on verified on a Deck. deckport links nothing.
Delisted: Nyu Media closed; removed from sale July 2022 — passes the not-for-sale rule.
DRM: Singleplayer visual novel, no DRM, no servers — should just work under Proton.
Install: Confirm the real .exe from your install (RPG Maker XP default = Game.exe).
Controller: Steam lists only Partial Controller Support, but it is a click-through VN, so apply a Steam Input keyboard/mouse layout (D-pad + A/B mapped to mouse + Enter) for full Deck playability.
Display: No true widescreen — the fixed-resolution window pillar/letterboxes on the Deck (cosmetic).

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
