About

Deadpool is a 2013 action-adventure game starring the Marvel antihero, with a story written by comics writer Daniel Way. Built on Unreal Engine 3, it has the player fight through hordes of enemies alongside Cable and the X-Men against Mister Sinister, leaning heavily on self-referential humor and fourth-wall breaks. It was delisted in 2017 when Activision's Marvel license lapsed, after a brief re-release window, making it unavailable to buy through normal channels.

⚙ Setup notes

Game: 2013 High Moon Studios action game (UE3, 32-bit).

ProtonDB: Silver overall, trending Gold. Runs once you opt into a recent Proton — the title is flagged Unsupported on Deck until you force a runtime.

Proton: Community confirms it on Steam Deck via Proton 9. In Properties > Compatibility, tick Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool and pick Proton 9.0 (a community report specifically used Proton 9 Beta). Stock Proton 9 works; no winetricks needed.

Framerate softlock: Do NOT add framerate-uncap launch options. With an unlocked framerate the game can softlock at a Chapter 5 cutscene (the two-guards / toilet scene). Leaving launch_options empty avoids this.

Crash-dialog workaround: If a startup/credits crash dialog appears, try --nocrashdialog as a launch option (otherwise leave launch options blank).

DRM: Delisted in 2017 when the Marvel license lapsed (briefly re-released 2015–2017) — bring your own copy. Steam DRM-wrapped, so it must launch through Steam.

Install: Main executable is DP.exe under Binaries\Win32\.

The one thing to know

Supply your own copy: Delisted (lapsed Marvel license); configuration only, no links.

Controller: The game uses native XInput (Xbox 360) gamepad support, which is exactly what the Deck's controls present — so the built-in gamepad works out of the box, no Steam Input layout needed. (On desktop, non-XInput pads need x360ce; not a concern on Deck.)

Framerate: Leave launch options empty. Uncapping the framerate can softlock a Chapter 5 cutscene — don't add frame-cap-removal flags.

Proton: Force compatibility ON and use Proton 9.0 (a community report used 9 Beta); the title shows as Unsupported on Deck until you do.

DRM: Steam DRM means it must run through Steam.

Install: Binary is DP.exe in Binaries\Win32\.

Get the artwork

deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.

Run it on your Deck

Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version) and registers the shortcut with artwork.
