About
FIFA 16 is the 2015 installment of EA Sports' annual football simulation series, built on the Ignite engine and developed by EA Canada. It was the first entry to add playable women's national teams, alongside returning modes such as Career Mode and FIFA Ultimate Team (including the new FUT Draft). The game introduced gameplay tweaks like Messi-inspired no-touch dribbling and was well received at launch, but it has since been removed from Steam as EA rotates out older annual sports titles.

Game: 2015 EA Canada football game (Ignite engine; Steam appid 353370, delisted Sept 2023 — bring your own copy).
DRM: It is an EA/Origin title: the Steam copy installs the EA app (formerly Origin) launcher, which Proton must run before the game starts.
Proton: Use GE-Proton (best EA-app compatibility on Deck); if the EA app fails to load with stock Proton, switch to a recent GE-Proton build.
Install: On first run let the EA app fully install/sign in — link your EA account once, after which it can launch offline.
Controller: Full native gamepad support: the game ships Xbox 360 / XInput controller bindings, so the Steam Deck controls map automatically (no Steam Input keyboard layout needed).
Display: Graphics/resolution are set by the separate fifaconfig.exe tool in the fifasetup subfolder of the install dir (Origin Games/FIFA 16/fifasetup/fifaconfig.exe), NOT the in-game menu — run it once via Proton to pick the Deck's 1280x800 resolution. You can also edit Documents/FIFA16/fifasetup.ini directly.
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy: Delisted EA sports title (Steam appid 353370) — configuration only, no links.
DRM: Requires the EA app (Origin) launcher, which Proton must run first — use GE-Proton for the smoothest EA-app handshake and complete the one-time EA account sign-in on first launch.
Rights: EA sports games carry extra licensed-IP layers (players/leagues), so this is the most rights-sensitive entry in the book even as pure documentation.
Controller: Works out of the box (native XInput/Xbox 360 bindings).
Display: Set video options (resolution to 1280x800) via the fifasetup/fifaconfig.exe tool in the install folder, not the in-game menu.
Verify: Tier is inferred from sibling FIFA titles + EA-app behavior; confirm appid 353370 and exe name (fifa16.exe, lowercase — case matters on Linux) against your own copy.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
