About
The PC version of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is a 2007 tactical shooter developed by Swedish studio GRIN and published by Ubisoft, built on GRIN's proprietary Diesel engine. A follow-up to the original GRAW, it casts the player as Captain Scott Mitchell commanding the Ghosts across a 72-hour conflict along the U.S.-Mexico border, emphasizing the squad command and Cross-Com tactical HUD the series is known for.
The four-player co-op campaign and competitive multiplayer were well received by critics. It was delisted from Steam around 2015 after the Diesel engine license used for the PC versions expired.

⚙ Setup notes
Overview: 2007 GRIN / Ubisoft tactical shooter (Diesel engine), no GFWL.
Patch: Patch to v1.05 first — several fixes only apply to the v1.05 GRAW2.exe.
Crash: If it crashes on launch (PhysX 2.7.1 startup crash), install the PhysX legacy driver; a community 'Divide by Zero' fix resolves another startup crash.
Audio: Distorted sound comes from OpenAL Soft 1.19.x — use 1.20.1.
Proton: Reported Playable on Deck with recent Proton (GE-Proton or proton_experimental).
Controller: No native gamepad — bind a Steam Input keyboard/mouse layout (a community controller-support mod also exists).
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy: Delisted from Steam (no longer for sale); configuration only, no links.
Controller: No native controller support — set up a Steam Input keyboard/mouse mapping (a ModDB controller-support mod also exists).
Patch: Patch to v1.05 before applying any fixes.
Crash: Startup crashes — PhysX 2.7.1 legacy driver and/or the community Divide-by-Zero fix.
Audio: Distorted audio = OpenAL Soft 1.19.x; use 1.20.1.
ProtonDB: Reports skew Platinum/Gold but the sample is small (~7) and depends on doing the patch + PhysX/audio fixes; we list Gold to set honest expectations for an out-of-the-box run. Verify on your Deck.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
