About
Killer Queen Black is a console and PC adaptation of the popular 10-player Killer Queen arcade cabinet, retooled into fast 4v4 team battles. Two teams race to win by one of three paths: military (eliminate the rival queen three times), economic (gather berries to fill the hive), or speed (ride the snail to the goal).
It launched in 2019 with cross-play between Steam and Nintendo Switch and was praised for its tense, accessible competitive design. Liquid Bit announced its retirement on Oct 4 2022 and it was delisted from Steam on Oct 6 2022, after Amazon's GameSparks backend (which powered online matchmaking) was discontinued; online service then went dark Nov 30 2022. Previously owned copies remain playable in offline and local multiplayer.

⚙ Setup notes
Status: Delisted Steam game (appid 663670, Unity engine). ProtonDB Gold (best-reported Platinum, trending Gold) — community reports local/offline play running essentially flawlessly under Proton, and it plays well on the Deck.
Proton: GE-Proton (or proton_experimental) is the safe pick; the game has no DRM beyond standard Steamworks — no GFWL or extra workarounds needed.
Controller: Native controller support on Windows (designed as a competitive controller game). Under Proton most users get a clean gamepad map, but a few reports note the pad not being picked up — if that happens, force Steam Input on with a Gamepad layout as a fallback.
Online: The original Amazon GameSparks backend shut down Nov 30 2022, so default matchmaking is dead and auto region-select fails; offline / local multiplayer works as-is. Liquid Bit added a beta branch (announced Dec 13 2022) that restores custom online matches + spectator mode.
Install: deckport only configures the prefix; it never bundles or links the game files.
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy: Delisted from Steam on Oct 6 2022 (no longer for sale); deckport links nothing.
Proton: ProtonDB Gold (best-reported Platinum, trending Gold) with community reports of local/offline play running flawlessly under Proton, so it should be smooth on the Deck.
Controller: Native controller game on Windows. Usually works under Proton, but a few reports note the gamepad not registering — if so, force Steam Input on with a Gamepad layout.
Online: The Amazon GameSparks backend shut down Nov 30 2022, so stock online matchmaking is gone and auto region-select fails — offline / local multiplayer works fine, and Liquid Bit's beta branch (Dec 13 2022) is the path to custom online + spectator.
Verify: Binary expected as Killer Queen Black.exe (Unity product name / install-folder convention); not yet independently confirmed against the install. Still needs a hands-on Deck verification pass.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
