About
The eleventh main Need for Speed title, ProStreet trades the series' open-world police chases for legal, closed-track racing across four disciplines: Grip, Drag, Drift, and Speed Challenge. The career follows newcomer Ryan Cooper climbing organized street-racing tiers to dethrone five reigning kings. Praised for its deep car customization and damage modeling but criticized for repetitive events and the loss of open-world freedom, it drew mixed reviews yet still sold over five million copies. It was delisted from digital storefronts and is no longer sold.

⚙ Setup notes
Game: 2007 EA Black Box racer (delisted — bring your own copy).
Proton: Boots under Proton Experimental. If it refuses to launch on a newer Proton, fall back to GE-Proton 9-25, which community reports as reliable for this title.
Patch first: Apply the official patch 1.1 to the retail install before playing — several issues (including crashes) occur on an unpatched copy.
Fix: Install ThirteenAG's Fusion Fix into the game root (next to nfsps.exe) for proper widescreen, HUD/FOV correction, FMV fixes and crash fixes; edit NFSProStreet.FusionFix.ini to taste. The bundled NFSProStreet.GenericFix component adds stability and save handling.
Display: Force a 16:9 resolution (e.g. 1280x800 on the Deck panel) and cap to 60fps for a smooth ride.
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy: Delisted — configuration only, no links.
Known bug: Choosing any language other than English causes an infinite load before races — keep the language English.
Display: Apply Fusion Fix for modern displays.
Controller: The game speaks XInput, so the Steam Deck gamepad works once it's seen as an Xbox pad. For rock-solid gamepad support add the NFS_XtendedInput mod (Fusion Fix also enables right-stick free-look).
Tier note: Marked silver — this is a non-Steam EA title added to Steam as a shortcut, so there is little public ProtonDB data, and a smooth experience depends on patch 1.1, the Fusion Fix mod, picking a working Proton (Experimental or GE-Proton) and the English-language workaround. Treat gold as optimistic until reports confirm it.
Steam: steam_appid left blank — ProStreet has a dormant SteamDB record (220380) but no purchasable Steam store page; it ships via the EA App. Run it on the Deck by adding nfsps.exe as a non-Steam shortcut and forcing Proton.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
