About

OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, known as OutRun 2 SP in Japan, is an arcade racing game by Sumo Digital and Sega. It bundles a conversion of the OutRun 2 SP arcade game (which also contains the original OutRun 2 stages) with a new Coast 2 Coast career mode of missions and challenge events such as drift, slipstream and elimination races. Known for its drift-heavy handling, branching stage routes and licensed Ferrari cars, it is regarded as one of the strongest entries in the OutRun series. The PC version was pulled from sale in 2010 when Sega's Ferrari licence expired.

⚙ Setup notes

Game: SEGA's 2006 arcade racer, delisted (the Ferrari licence lapsed).

Proton: Community-confirmed working on Deck under Proton; GE-Proton recommended for the gamepad.

Fix: Pair it with emoose's community OutRun2006Tweaks (dinput8.dll wrapper) for widescreen, high frame rate, UI scaling and rumble fixes. Copy the tweaks files into the install dir alongside OR2006C2C.EXE.

Wrapper: For the wrapper to load under Proton, set the launch option WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%. The tweaks dinput8.dll needs a recent x86 Visual C++ runtime (a 2024-era redist) to load, so install vcrun2022 via protontricks/winetricks if the wrapper fails to start.

Cosmetic: The 0.5+ tweaks default UIScalingMode=1 so the in-game HUD no longer stretches at 16:10.

Performance: Runs at 800p/60fps with low battery drain; AA can stay on.

The one thing to know

Supply your own copy: Delisted commercial game.

Controller: The game has native gamepad support, but if accelerate/brake don't respond, open the Steam overlay and disable Steam controller support (or apply a Steam Input gamepad layout) so the game's built-in input takes over.

Rumble: The OutRun2006Tweaks INI can restore XInput rumble (off by default since 0.4.2 due to Bluetooth lag).

Install: Apply OutRun2006Tweaks into the install dir and keep the WINEDLLOVERRIDES launch option so the wrapper loads.

Test on hardware before marking working.

Community guides

Get the artwork

deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.

Run it on your Deck

Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version) and registers the shortcut with artwork.
