About
reTHAWed is a large community total-conversion mod for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, the 2005 Neversoft skateboarding game (PC port by Aspyr in 2006). It rebuilds the game for modern systems and folds in content from across the franchise, with levels spanning Tony Hawk's Pro Skater through Project 8, an expanded roster and Create-A-Skater gear, a rewritten randomized soundtrack system, and an expanded Classic Mode. Technically it adds built-in widescreen, flexible controller handling, bug fixes, and restored online multiplayer via OpenSpy. It has been actively maintained with frequent updates since its 2017 beta.

⚙ Setup notes
Mod: A community full-game mod for Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (Neversoft, 2005) — adds a big roster of skaters, custom gear, classic levels from THPS through Project 8, restored/improved online, bug fixes, built-in widescreen, adjustable physics, and a custom launcher.
Base game: Needs the base game — Tony Hawk's American Wasteland, the 2006 Aspyr PC port. THAW was never sold on Steam (no Steam appid; the 207210 appid belongs to *Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD*), so you bring your own copy of the retail PC release.
Performance: Community reports it runs very well on Deck (60fps, ~6h on OLED).
Install: Practical path — drop your THAW PC files into a Lutris wine prefix, run the mod's reTHAWed Updater (updater.exe) against them to fetch/unpack the mod (keep the game out of Program Files), then point the launch target at reTHAWed.exe in the Game folder.
Proton: GE-Proton is the known-good runtime; you can also run it as a Lutris/non-Steam shortcut.
Display: Widescreen is handled by the mod, so no separate WidescreenFixesPack patch is needed.
The one thing to know
Supply your own copy: A free community mod that needs the base Tony Hawk's American Wasteland — the 2006 Aspyr PC port, which was never on Steam and is out of print — supply your own copy; configuration only, no links.
Launch: Launch via the reTHAWed.exe custom launcher (set the Lutris/Proton launch target to it, not the original THAW exe).
Controller: The mod adds flexible controller handling, so a gamepad works out of the box; if inputs misbehave, set the Steam Input layout to Gamepad with trackpad joystick to force an Xbox-style mapping.
Install: Easiest install route on Deck is a Lutris wine prefix under GE-Proton — keep the game outside Program Files (e.g. a plain Tony Hawk's American Wasteland folder).
protondb tier: Marked unknown on purpose. THAW isn't on Steam (the 207210 appid is *Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD*, a different game), and the mod runs via Lutris/non-Steam shortcut, so there is no real ProtonDB rating to cite. Community reports nonetheless describe it running well on Deck under GE-Proton/Lutris.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
