About

Titanfall is the debut title from Respawn Entertainment, the studio founded by the creators of the original Call of Duty. Built on a heavily modified Source engine, it pairs fast wall-running pilot combat with summonable mech-like Titans across team-based online matches. Critically acclaimed at its 2014 launch, it had no single-player campaign and was online-multiplayer-only. EA and Respawn delisted it from storefronts in December 2021 after persistent DDoS and cheating problems, but kept the official servers running for existing owners.

⚙ Setup notes

DRM: Delisted Steam game (appid 1454890), removed from sale in Dec 2021 — passes the not-for-sale rule.

Online-only: Original Titanfall is online-multiplayer-only; EA/Respawn kept the official servers online for existing owners.

Proton: ProtonDB rates it gold and community reports confirm it runs on Linux/Proton/Deck. Use GE-Proton — it smooths over the EA App/Origin launcher and in-game overlay handshake that can otherwise block boot or login on stock Proton.

Binary: The binary is Titanfall.exe in the install's root.

Controller: Native controller support (console-origin FPS, full gamepad), so no Steam Input hack is needed.

Install: deckport only configures the prefix; it never bundles or links the game files.

The one thing to know

Supply your own copy. deckport links nothing.

Online-only: this is an online-multiplayer-only game with no offline/campaign mode — playability depends entirely on the official servers being up, and they have historically suffered DDoS/cheater outages, so the experience can be hit-or-miss.

DRM: Delisted Dec 2021 (no longer for sale).

Proton: ProtonDB gold; community reports confirm it runs on Deck/Proton via GE-Proton.

Login: goes through the EA App/Origin layer; GE-Proton handles the overlay/launcher handshake that stock Proton can stumble on.

Controller: Full native gamepad support, no Steam Input layout required.

Community guides

Write-ups and threads from people who got this (or a similar) game running. deckport links to them — it doesn't reproduce them.

Get the artwork

deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.

Run it on your Deck

Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version) and registers the shortcut with artwork.
