About
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is the second entry in Neversoft's landmark skateboarding series, with the PC version ported by LTI Gray Matter and featuring sharper textures and higher resolution than the PlayStation original. It introduced the manual, cash rewards, and the Create-a-Skater and Park Editor tools, and remains one of the most critically acclaimed games ever made. This recipe covers the original 2000 PC release, which is distinct from the separate 2020 Pro Skater 1 + 2 remaster.

⚙ Setup notes
Title: Neversoft's 2000 skater (original PC release), never sold on Steam; the 2395210 Steam listing is the separate 2020 remaster. The original .exe is THawk2.exe.
Fix: Install DCxDemo's community Cumulative Patch (replaces THawk2.exe and hooks via dinput.dll) for native widescreen at 32-bit color, uncapped FPS, XInput controller support, custom-soundtrack support and the restored rail balance bar.
Install: After patching, launch th2patchlauncher.exe to set resolution/options, or point the binary at the patched THawk2.exe. On Deck the established Pat Hartl guide pairs the patch with dgVoodoo2 (the original DirectDraw renderer often needs it to display) and recommends Proton 7.0-4; GE-Proton/proton_experimental are also worth trying.
Alternative fix: PARTYMOD (partymanx) is a newer rewrite (Vulkan renderer + SDL input) with strong modern-controller support, if the Cumulative Patch gives graphics trouble.
DRM: No GFWL/SecuROM concerns on this title.
The one thing to know
No ProtonDB rating: This is the original 2000 PC release, which was never on Steam (steam_appid intentionally blank), so it has no ProtonDB tier of its own — ProtonDB only covers Steam appids (the 2395210 listing is the separate 2020 remaster). Tier marked n/a; treat playability as community-reported via the guides below.
Supply your own copy: Original 2000 PC release. The exe is THawk2.exe.
Controller: The stock build runs 4:3 only with no XInput. The DCxDemo Cumulative Patch adds XInput, but on Deck most community setups (e.g. the Pat Hartl guide) still drive it via a Steam Input keyboard layout plus dgVoodoo2 for the renderer rather than relying on raw XInput. PARTYMOD instead provides a native modern-controller path.
Fix: DCxDemo's Cumulative Patch gives widescreen, uncapped FPS and XInput; pair with dgVoodoo2 on Deck if graphics fail to render. PARTYMOD is the Vulkan-based alternative.
DRM: No GFWL or DRM on this release.

Get the artwork
deckport never hosts game images. Open this game on SteamGridDB, pick
the cover / hero / logo / icon you like, and drop them into the
game folder under .deckport-art/ before you push it to the
Deck. The importer files them under the right names automatically.
Run it on your Deck
Two files: the one-time importer (deckport.py) in your
Deck's home folder, and this game's install helper. Copy the game
into ~/Games and run the helper with Steam closed — it
writes the recipe (binary, launch options, Proton version)
and registers the shortcut with artwork.
